This Las Vegas Electrician Went From Paper to Paperless in One Weekend

The Story

Diana M. runs a family electrical business in Las Vegas that her father started in 1998. When she took over five years ago, she inherited 25 years of paper — filing cabinets full of carbon copy invoices, handwritten estimates, and customer notes on index cards.

"I couldn't find anything. A customer would call about warranty work from two years ago and I'd spend 30 minutes digging through cabinets. Sometimes I just gave them a discount rather than search for the original invoice."

Diana estimated she was giving away $3,000-4,000 per year in discounts simply because she couldn't locate paperwork fast enough.

"I set up JobsPaid on a Saturday morning. By Sunday evening, I had entered my 15 active customers and sent invoices for two jobs I'd completed that week. The whole transition took one weekend."

Now when a customer calls about a past job, Diana searches by their name and has every invoice, quote, and receipt in seconds. No filing cabinets, no digging.

"Last week a customer called about a panel we installed 3 months ago. I pulled up the invoice on my phone in literally 5 seconds while I was at the grocery store. He was impressed. I was relieved."

Diana hasn't opened a filing cabinet in four months. She's considering donating them.

"My dad ran this business on paper for 25 years. I respect that. But I'm not going to spend my next 25 years the same way. The work is the same — it's the business side that evolved."
