A Self-Described "Old School" HVAC Tech Finally Went Digital

The Story

Dave K. has been fixing furnaces and air conditioners in central Ohio for 23 years. For most of that time, he wrote invoices on carbon copy pads he bought from Office Depot. > "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" was his motto — until it was very much broke.

"A customer owed me $3,200 for a full system replacement. He swore up and down he never got the invoice. I had a carbon copy, but it was smudged and half the numbers were unreadable. I ended up settling for $2,000 just to get something."

Dave's wife had been telling him to go digital for years. After the $3,200 incident, he finally listened. But he had conditions.

"I told her — if I can't figure it out in the first 10 minutes, I'm going back to my pad. I'm not sitting through some training video."

He downloaded JobsPaid and sent his first invoice during a lunch break. > "I typed in the customer's name, the job description, and the price. Hit send. That was it. I sat there waiting for something to go wrong and nothing did."

Six months in, Dave has sent over 140 invoices through the app. He hasn't bought a carbon copy pad since.

The Impact

"My customers get a real invoice with my business name on it. They can pay with a link. Half of them pay the same day. I spent 23 years doing it the hard way for no reason."

The thing that surprised Dave most: he found $4,700 in unbilled work from his first two months just by having everything tracked in one place.
