Adding Your Contractor License
Many states require your license number on every invoice. JobsPaid makes this automatic — set it once, it appears everywhere.
Steps
- Go to Settings → License & Insurance tab
- Enter your License Type (e.g., General Contractor, Electrical, Plumbing)
- Enter your License Number
- Add the Expiration Date (we'll remind you before it expires)
- Click Save Changes
Does Your State Require It?
JobsPaid automatically detects your state during onboarding and shows you:
- Whether a license number is required on invoices
- The license format your state uses
- Whether your state requires a general contractor license
Important: States like California, Florida, and Arizona REQUIRE license numbers on invoices. Working without one can result in fines up to $5,000.
Common Mistakes
Don't guess your license number. Copy it exactly from your state licensing board website. One wrong digit and you could have compliance issues.
Update it when you renew. If your license number changes on renewal, update it in Settings right away.
