Understanding This Month vs Last Month Views
JobsPaid shows your current month alongside the previous month so you can immediately spot trends. Here is how to read this comparison.
Where You See the Comparison
The dashboard home page shows summary cards with "This Month" and "Last Month" comparisons for:
- Revenue — Total of paid invoices
- Outstanding — Total sent but unpaid
- Expenses — Total logged expenses
Reading the Numbers
Green arrow up ↑ — This month is higher than last month (good for revenue, not ideal for expenses) Red arrow down ↓ — This month is lower than last month (worth investigating for revenue)
What Causes Month-to-Month Swings
For contractors, monthly revenue swings are normal due to:
- Seasonal work patterns (less work in winter for outdoor trades)
- One large job finishing in a single month
- Payment timing (a big job invoiced at end of month may not be paid until next month)
Using It to Manage Your Business
Revenue dropping? Check your pipeline — do you have enough jobs booked for next month?
Expenses spiking? Look at the category breakdown to find what drove the increase.
Outstanding high? Review your unpaid invoices and send reminders.
Changing the Date Range
