Choosing Your Primary Trade

Your primary trade tells JobsPaid how to set up your account — from tax rates to invoice templates.

Steps

1. During onboarding, select your trade from the list
2. Or go to Settings → Profile → Primary Trade
3. Choose from: Electrical, Plumbing, HVAC, Roofing, Painting, Landscaping, General Contractor, Flooring, Concrete, or Handyman
4. Click Save Changes

Why It Matters

• Tax calculations vary by trade in some states
• Invoice templates show trade-specific line items
• Compliance rules differ (some trades need licenses, others don't)
• Content recommendations — we show you articles and tips for YOUR trade

Can I change it later? Yes! Go to Settings anytime to update your trade.

Common Mistakes

Don't pick "General Contractor" unless you are one. GC licensing requirements are different from specialty trades. Pick the trade you actually do.
