Setting Your Invoice Defaults

Setting up your invoice defaults saves you time by automatically filling in common information every time you create a new invoice. Think of it like setting up a template that makes invoicing faster and more consistent.

Why Set Invoice Defaults?

Instead of typing the same payment terms and due dates for every invoice, you can set these once and JobsPaid will automatically use them for all new invoices. This keeps your business looking professional and saves you valuable time.

How to Set Your Invoice Defaults

  1. Open the JobsPaid app and tap Settings from your dashboard
  2. Select Defaults from the settings menu
  3. Under the Invoice section, you'll see several options to customize:

Payment Terms: Choose how long customers have to pay you. Common options include:

  1. Set your Default Due Date by selecting how many days after the invoice date payment should be due
  2. Choose your Document Language - select English or Spanish based on your primary customer base
  3. Add any Default Notes you want to appear on every invoice, like "Thank you for your business!" or payment instructions
  4. Set your Default Tax Rate if you regularly charge sales tax
  5. Tap Save Changes at the bottom of the screen

Customizing for Individual Invoices

Remember, these are just defaults. You can always change the payment terms, due date, or language for specific invoices when needed. Your defaults simply give you a starting point.

Common Mistakes

Don't forget to update your defaults if your business changes. For example, if you start working with more Spanish-speaking customers, you might want to switch your default language.

Make sure your payment terms match what you tell customers verbally. If you always say "payment due in 30 days," set your default to Net 30.

Remember that shorter payment terms (like Net 15) can help improve your cash flow, but make sure they're reasonable for your industry.
